Description
This is a Robertshaw thermocouple gas valve magnet (part RBS83397) - the flame-failure power unit for Robertshaw Unitrol gas valves. It is designed for a standard thermocouple flame-failure circuit, where the thermocouple generates a small voltage (around 30 millivolts) to hold the magnet energised while the pilot is lit. If the flame fails, the magnet releases and shuts off the gas supply.
This is the thermocouple version and is not interchangeable with the millivolt version - fitting the wrong type will stop the valve holding open.
